These pine needle creations are made with pine needles from my backyard in DeLand, Florida. Most are started by coiling the pine needles.
Walnut slices, agate, wood, shells, gourds, jewelry, and decorative woods may also be used as an accent base. I never know what I may run
across to incorporate in the design.
Most of the designs are made out of naturally colored dried pine needles which may be accented with hand dyed pine needles of different colors. Objects and embellishments’ may be added to complete the design.
Artificial sinew is used to tightly bind the pine needles. Natural colored sinew is primarily used, but other colors such as black, dark brown, white, yellow, and dark green can be used to create contrast.
All of these baskets can be used for functional purposes or as unique decorative pieces. They make perfect gifts for any occasion.
